| Before I left work, I placed a "Bucky" skeleton
in my chair at work to keep everyone there company while Eileen and I were
on our journey. |
 |
| We started our trip from Peoria, IL, on American Airlines.
We went from Peoria to Detroit, and then on to New York City. |
 |
| We had two "tag-alongs" with us on our trip. The
first one was this small stuffed "travel bear," who is part of
a local 4th Grade project -- each student sends out a bear to travel to
all parts of the world. The woman who made the travel bags knew we were
going to Romania and asked us if we'd take the bear with us and then pass
him along to another traveller at some point.
|
|
| The second "tag-along" with us was this little guy,
a "Tinker Hell" made by a friend of mine from the Halloween-L
list that I'm on. She makes and sells these props, along with a bunch of
other neat things, and asked me if we'd be willing to take "Tinker"
along on the trip, too. Here, Tinker is standing along side a bowl of pickles
at the famous Carnegie Deli in New York City. |
 |
| Just before we left New York City for Romania, we went to
the Empire State Building to see what we could see of the city and of the
ruins of the World Trade Center. |

| Before we made our way to JFK Airport, we stopped for lunch
at Mars 2112, one of New York City's many theme restaurants. This one starts
with a motion simulation ride to "transport" everyone from Earth
to Mars. This (rather blurry) shot shows a "Martian" sitting in
a Mars Buggy. |
 |
| Various "aliens" were wandering around while we
ate. We asked one of them to pose with our tag-alongs, which she was most
happy to do. |

| These shots are of several people from our tour group. |

 |
| Contrary to popular opinion, we flew to Romania on Lufthansa,
not by bat. Our travel bear is shown here, sitting below the Lufthansa ticket
sign. |
